After being injured, Violet is taken to the Healers Quadrant by Dain. She learns about the powerful mending signet and receives a survival guide from her sister Mira.
Violet gathers ingredients for poisons and overhears Xaden and the Marked Ones. She gets caught by Xaden, who has shadow powers, and he nicknames her “Violence.”
Violet’s attraction to Dain grows thin as she starts poisoning her sparring opponents, leading to a winning streak. More details about dragons and Brennan’s death are revealed.
Violet overdoes her poisoning, making her opponent sick. Xaden steps in to teach her a lesson, and they share a moment of attraction.
Violet faces the Gauntlet, an obstacle course for riders. Jack’s lackeys get a reality check, and Violet has another encounter with Xaden

So previously on the last episode of tread talks, a bromance, Violet Soren Gill is forced by her mother to join the dragon, the dangerous writers quadrant at Vazgayath War College, despite Training for the scribe quadrant. Her sister, Mira tries to argue, but fails and prepares Violet for the parapet warning her about Zayden Ryerson. Dun, dun, dun, Violet crosses the parapet, making a friend Riannon and an enemy Jack, who she manages to outsmart. Violet reconnects her with her childhood friend, Dane. Oh, my beautiful Dane. But then ends up in the fourth wing under Zayden's leadership. Oh shit. Wait, he's hot. The next chapter explains the process of bonding with dragons and introduces the concept of magic and signets and whatnot. And then, during assessment day, Jack does what he does best, kills another cadet, threatens Violet, and then she faces Imogen, who seeks revenge and ends up getting severely injured.

jp_1_09-27-2024_093338:now? Thankfully, you've asked. Violet is damaged goods following her assessment with Imogen. Dane does the chivalrous thing and carries her to the healer's quadrant. We quickly find out that the most precious of all the signets is the ability to mend because they have the power to restore everything to its original state. We find out that, Brennan was a mender. Dead brother, Brennan. May he rest in peace. Violet. Is all hopped up on pain meds, very drugged out, struggling to form words has to advocate for herself to remain in the writer's quadrant, despite Dane's protest. Violet gets a little gift from Mira. It's the book of Brennan. It's a list of cheat codes for surviving BWC.

jp_1_09-27-2024_093338:Violet sets out to gather the ingredients for the poisons she intends to use to help her survive sparring matches. She quickly finds herself eavesdropping on Zadie Pants and the illegal clubhouse of Marked Ones. We know that they aren't supposed to meet in groups of three. Tough shit. Zadie likes to break the rules. He's king of the marked ones. Violet waits until the coast is clear and then tries to make off back to her bed without being caught by Zadie. Hashtag fail. She gets busted and we learned that Zadie Pants has the power to wield shadows. They have a short convo and Zadie assesses the potential threat of her turning him in for the clubhouse meeting. The end. Illegalities of it all, he lets it go for some reason and along the way he gives her a tasty little nickname violence Up next violent violet aka violence from here on out is quite attracted To dane, but his attempts to protect her are wearing thin rihanna hooks up with tara. What what? And seems to be one of the only cadets getting action Violet begins her scheme to poison her sparring opponents and goes on a winning streak. She gets a little more insight into dragons, colors, personalities, rarity, etc. We end up with a deeper insight on Sigail and Coda. And there's like this mysterious black dragon that rears up. We get a little more detail on these things. It's gonna be interesting, I think. We even learn a little bit more about Brennan's death and how another rider tried to save him. Violet gets a bit cocky with her poisoning approach and overdoes it, causing her opponent to get sick ahead of their match. So naturally, ZadiePants steps up to teach her a lesson. She gets beat in the sparring match that definitely vibes with him and is super attracted. Dane's protection scheme rears its ugly head yet again. The gauntlet Violet gets her first crack at the wild obstacle course designed to let the riders ability test their ability ahead of presentation, the cockiness flows with Jack's lackeys, and they get a dose of reality. It also gives a sobering moment meant to be meant to keep us humble and we get a little bit of flashback to dead Dylan. And we get another face to face with between Zadie Pants and Vine. How do you, Andrew, how do you, how do you feel about that?

That mending power, that mending signet, but healers are just like, healers are doctors, and like nurses, like they practice medicine through, through very, I guess like tried and true practices, so they can learn about the body, but they don't mend shit.

And when you mentioned it, that actually made a lot more clear because I thought everybody was a mender. But now that you mentioned, I'm like, no, there's people who just kind of, yeah, doctors, normal people who do, you know, just kind of put people back together and then you heal on your own naturally. And then there's menders who really just mend you and you're just good. There's no need for anything else to kind of act like it never happened.

So it's like, you know, it's one thing about me telling you about what happens and you know, the statistics of, you know, It's like driving a car like you know how to the concept of driving a car and you know how many people get into car crashes every year, but until you're actually in the car driving it yourself. You don't know how it's like. So I think that's the same concept with, you know, any of the challenges that are coming up. You know, she doesn't know. She knows what the gauntlet is. She knows what it's supposed to do and supposed to be about, but until she's on the gauntlet, she doesn't know that she's, what it's like. Dane's gone through all this stuff, he's done everything here, and he sees what condition he's in, how physical, and how much of a man he is compared to her, he knows what he went through to do it.

She's good. Like, don't, you know, She's not as weak as people think she is. And, you know, that's like the one compliment her mom gives her before everything starts. But yeah, I think, you know, more people, her mom definitely sees something in her that I think other people are not even people who are, you know, Her closest friends or whatnot. Yeah, she's smart.

And then beyond that marked ones assembling at all, even outside of their squad or any quadrant in groups of three or more are now Will now be considered to be an act of seditious conspiracy and is hereby a capital offense. And, they're just trying to get through it, you know, they're like, we've been dealt these shitty cards and, no one else is gonna help us except for us. So Zayden iss, like, I'm, you know, I've got you guys. He's, he's obviously the wing leader, so he's in charge of the wing regardless. So if they weren't marked ones, they would still be able to, they would've been able to have this conversation in a normal setting. But it's the same conversation that they should be having. But now he's got to do it in a way that doesn't get everyone killed.

That could use it and just write some off despite the protests from, there's a hierarchy, building in those marked ones with Bodhi and Imogen and you can see, like, the cream is going to rise to the top with them, especially if we're starting to learn familiar, familial

Jack's lackeys get a reality check and Violet has another encounter with Zayden. This has been an amazing set of five. We got really far in these five chapters, 10 chapters in so far. And I think we're really, doing a good job.
